IndiBrain Training Network
By joining IndiBrain, doctoral candidates become part of a cutting-edge European Doctoral Network dedicated to understanding individual differences in brain structure and function — and translating these insights into innovative diagnostics, neurotechnologies, and personalized rehabilitation strategies.
IndiBrain brings together world-leading expertise in computational neuroscience, advanced neuroimaging, clinical neurology, psychological science, and neurotechnology, connecting universities, hospitals, industry partners, and patient-centred organizations across Europe. Through this collaborative, interdisciplinary network, our researchers work at the frontier of personalized neuroscience.
A multidisciplinary training journey
IndiBrain doctoral candidates follow a comprehensive three-year research and training programme, combining:
- Advanced courses in neuroimaging, psychophysics, computational modelling, AI and deep learning in neuroscience
- Clinical exposure and training in vision and neurology
- Technology development and translational research experience
- Soft-skills training in scientific communication, project management, ethics, teamwork, and leadership
In addition to their primary host institution, each candidate completes international and cross-sector secondments at partner research labs, biotech and neurotechnology companies, and clinical centres. This ensures a unique combination of academic, clinical, and industry experience — preparing candidates to thrive across the full spectrum of modern neuroscience careers.
A community for the next generation of neuroscientists
IndiBrain supports a vibrant international research community, fostering strong scientific collaboration and a culture of open science, inclusivity, and researcher well-being. Regular workshops, summer schools, online seminars, and a structured mentorship program ensure all candidates receive exceptional training and guidance.
By completing the IndiBrain programme, fellows emerge as creative, independent, and socially responsible scientists ready to drive the next wave of innovation in neuroscience and personalized medicine — across academia, healthcare, and industry.
IndiBrain: Empowering the next generation of neuroscientists to bridge brain science, technology, and clinical practice — one individual brain at a time.
From research to impact
Beyond acquiring core scientific and technical expertise, our program equips candidates to translate discoveries into real-world applications. Fellows learn to:
